I attend a Baptist church, and we’re currently running a campaign to raise 1.5 million dollars to pay off our chapel so we can build a new education center. The money given by our congregants stays within our church to help with matters like these and many others.

It mostly stays in that church unless there is a offering they are collecting for.

As the wife of a Baptist minister, I can honestly say that the local fellowship baptist church decides where it’s own money is spent. Most of it goes towards utilities, office costs, mortgage payments. The rest goes towards pastoral salaries, supporting missionaries and various events or programs. If we choose to, we can also donate to the fellowship, who then turns it back into resources and training for pastors. Hope that helps.

The giver is allowed to designate what part of the church budget they want to give to. The money stays local unless otherwise noted.
