Church denominations that accept/tolerate reproductive rights?

♥GirlCan’tHelpIt♥ asked the question:

Can you tell me any church denominations or groups that accept/tolerate abortion and birth control? I’m trying to find some denominations that line up with second wave feminist values…
I don’t appreciate the hate comments, as I’m only asking in reference to a women’s studies project I’m working on. And for those of you that need an education on second wave, talk to Mary Wollstonecraft and Virginia Woolf. Thank you to the people who are trying to help.

Those that accept the murder of babies as ok…………..none that I can think of.

Perhaps some of the Atheist denominations Dawkins delineates in the Atheist Religion.

The Reformed Feminist Church of Abortions closed down in 2007. I doubt you would find a church that would call an abortion a good thing. good luck looking.

Abortion and birth control are separate and distinct. As a woman, I resent these put together and called “reproductive rights.” How about the right to become a mother? Is that a “reproductive right” anymore?

My church has no position on birth control, that I know of. Abortion is contemptible.

There aren’t any Christian denominations, as abortion is clearly against Christian morals. But you can pretend to be a Christian like every other pro-choice Christian.

Birth control is ok, but you will not find any denominations that follow the Bible who will accept or condone abortion. Abortion is murder

None. If any claim they do, they are against God and what God has taught us.

The Catholic Church accepts birth control (not abortion, though).

“If therefore there are well-grounded reasons for spacing births, arising from the physical or psychological condition of husband or wife, or from external circumstances, the Church teaches that married people may then take advantage of the natural cycles immanent in the reproductive system and engage in marital intercourse only during those times that are infertile, thus controlling birth in a way which does not in the least offend the moral principles which We have just explained.” (Humanae Vitae 16)

I reject the idea that killing one’s offspring is a feminist value.

So, you want God to conform to your personal views rather than you conforming to become more like Christ. Looks like your moving backwards here. Maybe the Universalist church is for you.

No churches that believe in God would or should tolerate abortion as “birth control”.

Forms of birth control are condoms, the pill, diaphram, tying your tubes, abstinence, IUD, etc. Abortion is not. Abortion is “I was too lazy to bother with the numerous choices of birth control, and I don’t want to be inconvenienced for nine months because of it.”

No trinitarian church SUPPORTS birth control or abortion.

I don’t think any Christian church you will find will accept abortion. The first Commandment states, “You shall have no other gods before me”. If you are searching for a religion that reshapes itself around the basic teachings of God, you are guilty of this most basic law. Call it feminist values all you want, but the Bible clearly speaks against murder/abortion. However, looking for a church that supports birth control shouldn’t be so hard, actually the catholic church is the only one who clearly speaks out against birth control.
