I have never been in a church that does confirmations. I think that is just Catholics - possibly Lutherans or Episcopalians (sp?) they tend to lean more toward Catholic traditions.
When you are 13 or 14, basically the spring before starting high school. In my church (WELS Lutheran), you spent your middle school years in religious education classes, like once a week. Then you take a test and there is a special ceremony at the church.
I am of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod. We have no specific date but it is typically done at the end of 8th grade having taken classes prior.
It was significant because it was the first time I participated in the Lord’s Supper, but I did not really achieve a sense of spiritual readiness in maturity until college.
I am Pentecostal and we do not have a process like confirmation. What we tend to do is at some point a person chooses to become a Christian. Then after that they are normally baptized. No real confirmation process like you have.
No confirmation here.
I have been Assembly of God since right before starting Kindergarten. We don’t have Confirmation. A person can convert to Christianity (start a relationship with God the Trinity) at any age. They can get baptized by total immersion in water and join the local fellowship after that. A few months ago, my church offered a sixteen-week class on the Foundations of (Assembly of God) Faith. I took my first Communion at around age 7 or 8. The only requirements were that I was a Christian and could explain what it meant. I was baptized in the Holy Spirit with the initial physical evidence of speaking in tongues at 11, almost 12.
Anglicans traditionally take confirmation at ages 15 -17. But like many things it has evolved with the times.
