There is no “head” of the “Baptist Church” — it isn’t a top-down hierarchy.

    ?

I know I have been out of the loop quite a bit lately, but what is this about?

*One thing I have a hard time understanding. When men are molesting children, why aren’t parents calling the police. Why are they calling insurance companies and suing for monetary settlements. Put these men in jail, they are sick and they are not following Christ. It is unfortunate when Satan slips into a congregation unaware, but whether you are discussing Catholic, Protestant or any other denominations the answer should be the same, arrest them.

Is it the fault of the Baptist Church that some people have deceived them and their congregations and abused their position?

    No, not really.

I guarantee whatever denomination you are in has its hidden evils as well.

are you kidding me. baptists are as much as devided from themselves as other religions. their is no one there to represent them.

You question has no basis in fact…therefore it’s nothing more than a rant…

EDIT*** Oh I see your problem you don’t understand that “protestant” is spelled differently that “baptist”…

Too much finger-pointing to be done to stop and apologize. Maybe next year.

    What sexual abuse?!

Are you thinking of priests and little boys? those are catholics (NO OFFENSE).

the Baptist church has no ‘head’ we follow Jesus’ teaching (so I guess you could say Jesus is our head); and if you’ve ever read the Bible, it says NO SEXUAL IMMORALITY (read Leviticus 18 and the whole New Testement)! I have never been sexually or verbally or physically abused by anyone who calls themself a Baptist! Or heard about this from anyone.

There is no head of the Baptist Church. there are hundreds of branches of Baptist Churches that belong to conferences or synods. They are a loose organization based on region.

In regards to evidence of sexual abuse cases, the top insurance companies have released how many protestant sexual abuse and misconduct claims they get every year. 500 is the claims filed against protestant denominations on the per year average over the last 10 years. The Catholic Church had 13,000 filed against them, covering a period of 60 years which averages to 216 a year according to the independent John Jay report from the New York university law school.
article based on the insurance figures release

particularly regarding Baptists there have been enough complaints that an organization with the Church has actually started

i think the *head* of the baptist church is the congregation of members, who hire the elders, pastors, other workers, etc….. and i didn’t know there was rampant sexual abuse in the baptist community. are you suggesting that they are a denomination that allows this to happen and says nothing? can you give specifics? i’m not baptist, but i’d take offense to this question because it basically attacks the whole denomination….just like people do to anyone who is a catholic, because of the scandals linked to the abusive priests. in any group of people, there are those who do not represent the larger part, and if there is any specific example to be given about the baptist’s ‘abuse,’ then i would say the larger part of the group does not condone abuse, because they are a god-fearing people who abhor abuse just as much as anyone else who thinks it’s terrible.

there isn’t a head but the perpetrators should sure as heck apologize. .. but not if they don’t mean it because what is the point.
